About Me

Dr. Leta Vega, DNP, CNM, APN, is a board-certified Advanced Practice Nurse and Certified Nurse Midwife with over 40 years of experience in women’s healthcare. A lifelong advocate for women across all life stages, she specializes in general gynecology, obstetrics, and midlife wellness, with a focus on natural transitions through menopause and lifestyle-based care.

Dr. Vega began her journey in healthcare at Methodist College of Nursing in Peoria, earned her Master’s in Nurse Midwifery from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and completed her Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) at the University of Iowa. She is licensed in Illinois and nationally certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Vega serves as a faculty member, educating and mentoring future nurse leaders. Her academic contributions include research and public health advocacy centered on holistic women’s wellness—emphasizing the power of balanced nutrition, regular movement, and intentional living to meet the evolving needs of women over 40 and 50.

She is an active board member of the Illinois Society of Advanced Practice Nurses (ISAPN). She serves on its Government Relations Committee, working to advance legislation that supports women’s access to healthcare and nurse practitioner leadership.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Leta is a proud wife, mother, and grandmother of seven. She is a passionate volunteer for WINGS, a nonprofit dedicated to ending domestic violence, and a committed voice for women’s empowerment and safety. Off the clock, she finds joy in golf, biking, fine arts, and live theater—believing that creative expression and community are as vital to wellness as clinical care.
